“Rebecca is an excellent teacher - creative, fun and compassionate. She started working with my daughter in far from ideal circumstances. We were in crisis mode a couple of months before GCSEs; our daughter had stopped going to school, was suffering from depression and anxiety, and had completely disengaged from learning. She had basically given up on herself. We knew she wouldn't revise for exams independently, but thought a tutor might help give her the confidence to at least attend the exam. My daughter agreed to try.

The turnaround has been unbelievable and way exceeded our hopes. In the couple of months she has worked with my daughter, Rebecca has not only got her to engage with her, but to enjoy learning again. It's as if she has woken up. The two of them have searing debates about Romeo and Juliet, tease each other with extravagant words and phrases that would impress any English examiner, and Rebecca is not only tolerant of my daughter's Attention Deficit Disorder, but works with it, recognising when she needs to fidget or get up and move, and hooking her back in. They have a lovely relationship, lots of laughs and lots of intellectual stimulation. Rebecca is an extremely creative teacher.

My daughter has remembered how much she enjoys English. She has started reading again and telling me about points that interest her in the text. She has also begun attending school more and has impressed her English teacher with how much she knows. She is happier and more confident.

I was incredibly impressed with the preparation Rebecca made for each session, and her ability to work within a short timeframe to help my daughter achieve as close to her potential as possible in the circumstances. She was flexible and considerate with making plans, and a joy to have around. We miss her already!”

“We’ve known Rebecca since last April when we were looking for a tutor to support our daughter through the difficult 11+ journey.

After the very first lesson, our daughter established a strong bond with her that helped her to overcome not only the weaknesses in her English but to bring out the best in her. Our daughter not only gained entry to all the academically selective independent schools she applied to, but achieved an academic scholarship as well.

I couldn’t recommend Rebecca highly enough for her support, guidance and caring personality."

"Rebecca was a pleasure to work with.  She tutored our son for secondary school entry exams and was always enthusiastic, patient and focused.  She provided targeted work for our son and was always happy to go ‘above and beyond’ in answering questions outside the tutoring session etc.  She developed a good rapport with our son and provided a programme for him that was challenging but not overwhelming.  We wouldn't hesitate to recommend her as a tutor."

“I was very lucky to meet Rebecca. We are a bilingual family and English is our second language. My son didn't do so well in English at the beginning, but Rebecca has now been teaching him for nearly three years and he has shown excellent progress. His school reports have been very good, and he received an offer from Sussex House in his 8+ exams.

When my daughter started preparing for the 11+, she asked Rebecca to become her tutor too. Although the class was very early (6am!), she was still very happy to see Rebecca and enjoyed every class. During lockdown, the learning process was particularly difficult for her, but with Rebecca’s help she achieved excellent results in her 11+ exams and received offers from many top schools, including Highgate, South Hampstead and North London Collegiate (we eventually chose North London Collegiate).

Both my children like Rebecca very much. They say she is very passionate and patient, and they enjoy studying with her very much. She is not only their teacher, but also our family friend. She joins our discussions for many decisions, and I am deeply touched by her devotion.

This is the first time I have written a recommendation for a teacher, because I think Rebecca is a very respectable teacher and very responsible towards her students. She will create courses according to each child's different abilities and will take their homework home to correct, trying not to occupy their class time. Before all their entrance interviews, she prepared a long email to remind them what to do and what to pay attention to, and to cheer them on.

I am very moved by the effort that Rebecca has made for my children. She makes them love learning English and they cannot live without her now. We thank her very much for what she has done."

"I've been taught by Rebecca for two years and she is still teaching me now! I am ethnic Chinese and when I first started my English was horrible! However, Rebecca has helped me to improve a lot and understand more. She has taught me new useful vocabulary and how to read and analyse comprehension papers. I have just finished my 11+ and - guess what - I got into my dream school, North London Collegiate, with Rebecca's help! She will help you every step of the way. When she gives you feedback, it is detailed and extremely useful! She is an energetic and patient teacher who comes with a smile to every lesson."

"I have been taught by Rebecca for nearly three years and my English has improved a lot in those years. I have learnt how to write essays and answer comprehensions properly, and my vocabulary is much better. Rebecca goes through my homework thorougly and gives me feedback like spelling and grammar mistakes. She is a very kind and patient teacher."

"Finding the right tutor for a 10-year-old boy with looming 11+ exams is paramount. My son is extremely resistant to any form of academic work and would much rather be outdoors playing tennis. However, Rebecca loves a challenge and with her kind, encouraging, entertaining and jolly nature she managed to motivate my son to work methodically and raise his level of knowledge and understanding in both maths and English. As a result of all her endeavours, he was offered a place at four secondary schools of his choice. Without this support, we would never have had such a good outcome."
