Undergraduate Tuition & Interview Preparation

Undergraduate Tuition

Students studying for English literature or language degrees are very welcome to get in touch. I can provide regular weekly tutorials, and/or assistance with essys, compositions and dissertations.

I only take on one university student at a time, as the workload and time commitment is significantly higher than for school-aged pupils. But I have a waiting list for all applicants, so please do get in touch if you would like to put your name down for the available spot.

I have a great deal of experience in long-form writing, having completed two essay-based degrees – a BA in English Literature at Cambridge University and an MA in Journalism Studies at Stanford University – and subsequently taken up a career in feature journalism.
As the senior reporter at the International Bar Association, I wrote regular 3,000-word articles relating to human rights and the rule of law, and in 2022 I had my first book published, which was the equivalent of writing around fifty dissertations over the course of three years!
Interview Preparation

I have been helping students prepare for interviews since I first started teaching over fifteen years ago. It is a vital skill and key part of the admissions process, and a little practice can make all the difference.
The interview process varies markedly from school to school. Some prefer to hold group activity days, testing students' teamwork and cooperation skills, while others prefer a more conventional one-to-one approach. Some are more relaxed, while some involve more formal testing. Some are more general in scope, while others are more academically focused.
Each requires its own careful preparation, and over the years I have developed a good understanding of the types of questions and activities likely to arise at the top private and grammar schools in Greater London.
While it is never wise to 'over-prepare' for an interview, as it's extremely important to maintain spontaneity and authenticity, having a good idea of what to expect – and practising how to articulate ideas with clarity and confidence – can work wonders in terms of improving overall performance.
